At our Open House event in July a gentleman stopped by with an interesting problem. He had a display cabinet with a glass door and a broken hinge. The original hinge’s bracket was made out of pot metal, a cast metal infamous for cracking, and well… it had cracked in half. He had searched for a replacement part to no avail. At Cape Cod Makers we say if you can’t find it, just make it! In a few hours one of our resident mechanical mavens, Rob Wilson, had a prototype designed and ready for the 3D printer. If you want to learn Do-It-Yourself skills like this, stop by our next Open House or consider joining the LaunchPad MakerSpace.
